Charity Van Driver
Duties:
Driving & Collections • Safely drive the charity van for daily collections and deliveries. • Collect donated furniture, household items, and white goods from members of the public and partner organisations. • Deliver furniture and essential household items to individuals and families supported through the Houses2Homes project. • Carry out additional collections and deliveries required for the day-to-day running of the charity. • Collect or delivery any items, supplies, or donations required for the Community Café, Reidvale Café. • Complete vehicle checks and report any faults or maintenance issues. Manual Handling • Load and unload furniture, white goods, and other donated items safely. • Carry out manual handling duties in line with health and safety procedures. • Assist with moving stock within the warehouse and storage areas. Warehouse Duties • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment. • Assist with sorting and organising donated items. • Ensure workspaces and storage areas remain tidy and accessible. Furniture & White Goods Preparation • Clean furniture and white goods to an acceptable standard before redistribution. • Inspect donated items to ensure they are safe and suitable for reuse. • Support sustainability and reuse initiatives through quality preparation of donated goods. • Carry out PAT Testing on white goods where required and ensure items meet safety standards before redistribution. Food Provision Support • Collect zero waste food donations from partner organisations and suppliers. • Deliver food supplies to designated food provision locations and community support projects. • Assist with unloading and organisation of food deliveries where required. Health & Safety Responsibilities • Follow all health and safety procedures relating to driving, manual handling, warehouse operations, and food handling. • Ensure safe operation of charity vehicles and equipment. • Report accidents, damages, or safety concerns promptly. Administration tasks • Carry out referrals received from partners and local housing associations, organised and allocated through administration staff. • Complete, maintain, and return all required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time. • Process referrals accurately and confidentially, ensuring all personal data is handled in accordance with the organisation’s Data Protection and GDPR policies. Professional Conduct & Representation • Act as a positive representative and ambassador of The Halliday Foundation at all times. • Maintain a professional, respectful, and compassionate manner when dealing with donors, customers, clients, service users, funders, partners, volunteers, and members of the public. • Understand the importance of maintaining the high reputation and public image of The Halliday Foundation through professional conduct, communication, reliability, and presentation. • Build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and stakeholders. • Ensure confidentiality and dignity are respected when supporting vulnerable individuals and families.

• Previous experience in a driving, delivery, warehouse, or charity environment. • Experience handling furniture or white goods. • Knowledge of Glasgow and surrounding areas.
