Earlier this week, we shared the exciting news about our new Employment Packages, offering the skills, qualifications, and work experience you need to start a new and successful career.

What could be better than starting a training course which ends with an interview for a current vacancy. A package that leads straight to success.

Now we bring you news about the launch of our first ever Employment Package for Care.

The care sector is one of the few industries where job vacancies continue to increase, offering long-term employment prospects and continued opportunities for career promotion. Social care is extremely rewarding and offers you the chance to help someone in need and make their lives that little bit easier.

A job that is both secure and rewarding.

Our Employment Package for Care is designed in the following stages:

Package Stage 1 – Training

Our care training is designed with employers, and covers all the industry essentials that are required for a successful career in the industry.

No prior experience or qualifications are required. The course is open to Glasgow City Council residents, aged 16 years and over.

The free training begins on Monday 28th February, and runs for 5 days, until Friday 4th March, taking place from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day. It will be delivered face to face, in a City Centre training location.

Package Stage 2 – Licences

To work in the Care sector you must have no prior criminal convictions and be eligible to pass a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check. We will provide support to complete the application and pay for all costs.

Package Stage 3 – Interview

On successful completion of stages 1 and 2, you will have an Interview with an employer for a current role as a Care Assistant. We provide support and advice on how to prepare for this interview.

Package Stage 4 – Paid work placement

Following a successful interview, you will begin an 8 week work placement, paid at the Glasgow Living Wage hourly rate. We are linked to Care employers across the City and can support you to access employment in a convenient location.

Package Stage 5 – Job offer

Following a successful work placement, you will be offered permanent employment as a Care Assistant and begin your career in the industry. Support to transition into employment and access to further Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) will be offered ensuring continued career development.
