Last month we announced a free driver training programme for our customers to upgrade their existing drivers licence to include HGV vehicles.

This month, 12 customers have been booked to undergo medicals as part of the requirements of the licence, and a further 4 are preparing to begin the practical elements of the HGV driving test.

It’s hard to escape the news about the current HGV driver shortages across the UK.

A Road Haulage Association (RHA) survey of its members estimates we are now at a crisis point, with a shortage of more than 100,000 qualified drivers in the UK.

Our HGV training programme is ongoing and any customers interested should speak to their Adviser for more information in taking part.

We can also offer access to training for PCV licences, which authorise the driving of passenger-carrying vehicles over 16 seats, and training for forklifts. All training is free to customers.

For those who would like to drive forklifts within a warehouse or construction environment, CSCS health and safety test cards can also be funded and support can be provided with the test.

If you are not currently registered but would like to take part in this programme or access our back to work support, please call our customer service team on freephone: 0300 123 2898
